Who are to attend the Commencement Ceremony scheduled during November 11-12, 2020?2020-08-28T17:54:58+07:00

The Commencement Ceremony, to be held during November 11-12, 2020, are for the graduating students of Semester 2/Academic Year 2018, Summer Session/Academic Year 2018, and Semester 1/Academic Year 2019, whose Commencement Ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 and only for those who completed their graduation regustration.

When I registered for graduation via the online system, I specified that I did not wish to attend the commencement ceremony. I since changed my mind and wish to attend the commencement ceremony. What should I do?2020-08-28T17:55:03+07:00

There are 2 options for you.

  • If you already paid a fee for graduation registration, please bring a proof of payment to BU One Stop Service and write a request form to state your wish to attend the commencement ceremony and pay a rental fee for an academic gown and/or hood at the Financial Affairs Department.
  • If you have not yet paid a fee for graduation registration, please print a Registration Slip and pay for the graduation registration and rental fee for an academic gown and/or hood at the Bank. Then send a copy of the proof of payment with a picture of your National Identification Card or Passport, with an email message to confirm that you wish to attend the commencement ceremony at jate.p@bu.ac.th .

A neat looking tied back hairstyle with natural color hair. Bright colors are not recommended.

You will receive a picture taken at the Commencement Ceremony, without a picture frame from the photo shop, Chayakorn ( First Digital Labmony) after the ceremony. If you wish to have a picture frame, you may contact the photo shop directly and pay for picture frame, Tel:  0-2671-4446 , 0-2671-7778

For graduating students of the undergraduate degree, you are required to rent an academic hood from the University but for an academic gown, you may rent from you preferred shop or bring your own.
For graduating students of the master’s degree and doctoral degree, you are required to rent both the academic gown and hood from the University.

Can I order an academic gown and hood to be tailor-made for me? (At the Cattleya Shop Only)2020-08-28T18:00:16+07:00

Yes, you can order a tailor-made academic gown and hood, at the following cost.

  • For Undergraduate Degree, 3,000 baht
  • For Master’s Degree, 6,000 baht
  • For Doctoral Degree, 6,700 baht
  • Graduating students of Semester 2 of the Academic Year 2018 and Summer Session of the Academic Year 2018, please contact the Financial Affairs Department to pay for the academic gown and hood by Januray 24, 2020 and receive a coupon for Cattleya Shop (Pinklao).
  • Graduating students of Semester 1 of the Academic Year 2019, please contact the Financial Affairs Department to pay for the academic gown and hood during February 18-26, 2020 and receive a coupon for Cattleya Shop (Pinklao).

To have an academic gown and hood tailor-made at the Cattleya Shop, graduating students will receive a fee waiver for cost of the hood (To pay only a fee for graduation registration of 3,000 baht and a membership fee of the Bangkok University Alumni Association of 1,000 baht. For the graduating students at the Master’s Degree and Doctoral Degree who were BU Alumni are to pay only a fee for graduation registration of 3,000 baht only).

I already registered for graduation but I have not rented an academic gown. What should I do? You can pay an additional cost at the Financial Affairs Department, as detailed below.

Graduating Students at the Undergraduate Degree Level:
– If you already paid a sum of 5,300 baht (without renting an academic gown), please pay an additional of 1,700 baht at the Financial Affairs Office and take a coupon received after payment to the Cattleya Shop (Pinklao).
– If you already paid a sum of 6,500 baht, please pay an additional of 500 baht at the Financial Affairs Office and take a coupon received after payment to the Cattleya Shop (Pinklao).

Graduating Students at the Master’s Degree Level:
– If you already paid a sum of 7,650 baht, please pay an additional of 2,350 baht at the Financial Affairs Office and take a coupon received after payment to the Cattleya Shop (Pinklao).

Graduating Students at the Doctoral Degree Level:
– If you already paid a sum of 7,750 baht, please pay an additional of 2,950 baht at the Financial Affairs Office and take a coupon received after payment to the Cattleya Shop (Pinklao).

Graduating Students who registered for graduation during the Round 1: Collect the gown and/or hood as from February 13, 2020.

Graduating Students who registered for graduation during the Round 1: Collect the gown and/or hood as from March 18, 202 or during the rehearsal day of the commencement ceremony.

You can return the academic gown at a drop off point/registration point after the Commencement Ceremony or return directly at the Cattelya Shop within 60 days after the Commencement Ceremony

The University will send the degree certificate to the graduating students at a given mailing address. If you wish to pick up the degree certificate in person, please contact the One Stop Service at Building A3, Floor 1, one week after the Commencement Ceremony.

Yes, you can proceed with a late graduation registration (to reserve the right to attend a commencement ceremony) by paying a fee of 4,000 baht via a bank transfer to Bangkok University Account, Bangkok Bank, Klauy Nam Thai Branch, Account Number 117-3-02113-8, and send a proof of payment to bu1stop@bu.ac.th . You are also required to provide your information and a mailing address for a degree certificate delivery at https://bit.ly/Mailing-CMM . Please note that the degree certificate will be mailed to your mailing address on August 18, 2020 or you may collect the degree certificate at the University when the offices resume normal operation.

All graduating students at the undergraduate degree, master’s degree and doctoral degree are required to pay a fee for graduation registration of 3,000 baht and 1,000 baht for a membership fee of the Bangkok University Alumni Association. Please note that the graduating students of the Master’s Degree and Doctoral Degree who were BU Alums receive a membership fee waiver of 1,000 baht and are required to pay only a graduation registration fee of 3,000 baht.
